How to fix the m1710 video card problem
I assume you’ve read the previous posts in this blog. I understand that there are a lot of topics and issues here, as I’m sure you’ve seen yourself. However, it is essential to state what happened and how we were able to fix it.
First, thank the guys over at Overclockers UK forums for their quick response. Without them, none of this would have been possible.
The issue was caused by overheating the laptop’s graphics card (NVIDIA M1710). This is familiar, as I have previously posted about this happening to my ASUS N550JX-DM71. The most recent experience with my ASUS N550JK proved that the same problem wasn’t isolated to my laptop but affected many others in North America and Europe. So when my ASUS N550JK overheated again, it made me curious whether or not NVIDIA was aware of this decline in its performance or if they had come up with a solution for it yet.

Upon seeing these BSODs during software upgrades and startup, I thought something had gone wrong with NVIDIA Optimus technology. Still, after doing some investigation firsthand through Google searches and forum posts, they were consistent enough, so I decided to see if there was anything wrong with my system before I contacted NVIDIA support directly (I needed more time then). Without further ado, here is a list of all of these crashes via BIOS events:
